Maximizing Exercise with Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Dancing

If you're someone who hates to work out, don't give up just yet. There are many options out there for people who bore easily at the gym, or simply can't seem to find the motivation to regularly train. Dancing is a popular choice for many people who want an alternative routine to lifting weights or running. Low-impact dancing has even been shown in research to benefit people who have IBD disease. Dancing is considered an aerobic activity that can help release chemicals in the brain to fight strength and depression. This is particularly helpful because people with chronic diseases like Crohn's are often more susceptible to mental health issues that affect their quality of life. Dr. Williams reminds us that if we choose to do dancing as an aerobic exercise (or any other type of exercise for that matter), try to remember to stay hydrated with a water bottle.
