The Gender Gap in Handling Stress and Diabetes

The correlation between diabetes and depression

As discovered in previous studies, there also appears to be a two-way connection between type 2 diabetes and depression which further complicates management for women. According to an article written by Kendra Manigault, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, CDE, there is a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes in patients who have been diagnosed with depression. Moreover, the incidence of depression is higher among patients with diabetes. The correlation between the two conditions presents an extra obstacle for an effective treatment plan. However, it also sheds light on what exactly needs to be done to keep glucose and insulin levels well balanced.
