Depending on the area the scan is ordered to address, you may want to ensure you wear clothing that does not have metal underwires, zippers, snaps, etc and avoid jewelry within the target area. Alternatively, you may expect to change into a hospital gown if your clothing may obscure the imaging study.

If contrast is ordered, you should expect to arrive prior to your scheduled scan time so that an RN can gain IV access, inject the contrast medium, allow the contrast to circulate, then assist you to the scanner. Following the imaging study, IV access will be discontinued before you are sent home.
